Free Short Story

(Who says you can never have nice things?)

Thank you for signing up for my newsletter. I promise I won’t email too often, and if I do, I’ll do my best to make the content at least somewhat interesting. And if I don’t, there’s always an easy ‘unsubscribe’ link in every one.

As promised, here is a free short story, created as a bonus work, not published separately anywhere else. True story: the idea for this came from some oddball waking experiences I’ve had throughout my life, and I thought might make a fun little parable. If you like it, I’d love to hear your feedback (steve@steveumstead.com). If you hate it, my my email is bob@aol.com.

DREAMSHIFT
Jeremy is a college student, struggling to make ends meet. After hearing of a sleep experiment that pays handsomely, he eagerly signs up. The tests seem innocent enough, the reasoning behind them intriguing, but the end result may cost Jeremy more than he’ll ever earn. Can dreams tell the future, or are they in fact the future itself?
